Today, I’m interviewing Jessica Walker, Career Coach on jessicafwalker.com! I am quite excited as this is my first interview on my blog!
Fiorenza Rossini: Who is your audience and what goals are you helping them accomplish?
Jessica Walker: My audience is millennial women, trying to change their career path because they feel underemployed. My goal is to show these women how to design their own career paths, using some super sweet life hacks, and skill hacks.
FR: How did you get started as a coach?
JW: I’m a employment specialist by trade. I’ve worked for over 10 years, helping people find education opportunities, or work opportunities that allowed them to advance on the job. It seemed like a natural transition to “Coach” mode.
FR: What is the single best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
JW: There are several! But if I had to chose just one, it’s this call to action: If not you, then who? If not now, then when? I have experienced anxiety in the past, to the point where I thought I would be crippled by it. But I found that most of my anxiety came from non-action. Sure, I was scared, but when I was scared and doing something about it, it didn’t seem so bad.
It was a lovely revelation. Now every time I feel myself hemming and hawing over a project, or sending out a certain email I ask myself If not you, then who? If not now, then when? No one else is going to advocate for yourself as well as you can. And the best time to do anything is the now.
FR: Tell me more about Catapult Your Career?
JW: I’m so excited about Catapult Your Career! Its an online course that you’ll have lifetime access to, and it gives you the tools and the blueprints you need to take your career to the next level.
A lot of people didn’t finish college, or couldn’t go. Or maybe you did finish college, but your degree hasn’t translated into a career that you’re happy and fulfilled in. You know you’re motivated to get a better job, but lack the skills you need to get that promotion.
Or now that you’ve had a couple of years to mess around, trying to figure out exactly what direction you want to take you career, the idea of going back to two or three more years of school is too much. Too much time, and too much money.
Catapult Your Career helps bridge that gap by giving students all the tools needed to build a strong skillset, and lays out actionable step by step guides and timelines to build a great supportive network, and get the job that makes you happy and fulfilled.

FR: That is really amazing! There’s something else I wanted to ask you: what do you do when someone is paying for services, but isn’t engaged in the program?
JW: That phrase “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink,” comes to mind. I try to not overload with information, and encourage my clients/students to revisit the information as they need to to stay on track. My program provides direct access to me, so if there is any questions, or struggles that need to be addressed, we can do it together.
FR: When should someone start seeking your coaching services?
JW: People should always be looking for ways to improve their skills, interactions, and network. Learning doesn’t end when you get your diploma. Not everyone needs a coach, but a good way to find out if you do is checking out this blog post I wrote about it.
FR: What sets you apart from the rest?
JW: When you sign up for Catapult Your Career, you’re not just getting support from me, you’re getting support from people from all sorts of backgrounds who can be apart of your network. Together, we create an incredibly unique supportive community that acts as your personal cheerleader.
I hope you find this interview helpful. Do not hesitate to reach out to myself or Jessica directly should you need more info.
